VMware ESXi 6.5 is available in several editions. In this article we will show you how to install a license for ESXi after installing ESXi 6.5. In this example we use the free vSphere Hypervisor license.

Import license

Log in to the ESXi Server's host client by connecting to a web browser on https://ESXI-IP-ADRESSE/UI. Then do the following:

  • Click Manage.

  • Click Licensing.

  • Click Assign license.

  • Enter the license key and click on Check license.

  • Click Assign license.

  • The license has been activated.

  • In the Host view, there is no warning that the host is in test mode.
